I am really a beginner at Norwegian, although I have found that my background in Afrikaans has helped me to read it well enough to get around. I have been living in Sandnes for a month now and am quite able to shop, attend gym classes and get to work, but that is possibly because the Norwegians in the area all speak rather good English and are willing to help me out a lot.
I would like to be able to have a conversation in a shop and also to chat a little with my friends, although their English is far better than I think my Norwegian will ever be. I would also like to be able to watch Norwegian movies and tv and not be utterly bemused. For example, I would like to watch Max Manus or the news, and get information from that without relying only on the visual cues.
I am happy to dedicate as much time as it takes to getting fluent FAST, and I need a good teacher that will help me with this goal. I tend to be rather extreme at things eg deciding to get fit I am now applying myself to 2-3 hours of exercise a day. If I decide to learn Norwegian I am happy to devote several hours a week to being with a teacher and then 2-3 hours per online class to learning on my own.

I have lived in Norway for a little over a year now, and speak some Norwegian. I am currently taking folkuniversit et classes at the intermediate level, but am looking for something more efficient. I feel I would learn more (and at a faster pace) if I were taking one-on-one lessons.
M y goal is to reach the Bergen test level, as well as to be able to use Norwegian in daily life. At the moment, I am fairly efficient at reading and writing, and I can understand quite a bit of spoken Norwegian. However, I lack confidence when I speak and need to work on that.
I am looking to either replace or suppliment the classes I am already taking. Ideally, I would have private lessons for a couple of hours, twice a week. Depending on the price of the private lessons, I might use them in addition to the classes I am already taking. But if it is affordable and I feel the quality is good, I would ideally like to focus only on those private lessons.
I n a teacher, I am looking for someone who is patient and yet persistent. Someone who is at least somewhat flexible with the schedule (as I travel a bit with work.)
