I am a beginner and know a few Chinese phrases. I want to learn Chinese for personal and business reasons, as I have many friends in Taiwan and in China. I board Asian students in my house, who are here in Victoria learning English. I would like to gain a comprehensive knowledge of the Chinese language, so a least I can carry on a basic conversation and maybe some grammar. I will dedicate as much time as necessary to accomplish my goals in this regard. I would like my lessons and my teacher to be organized, concise and thorough.

I lived in Taiwan for 8 months and then I came back to Victoria and took one year of Mandarin at Camosun. I have basically forgotten all of it and know it wouldn't take much to refresh, but I would like to refresh and then try this time to maintain it better.

Language proficiency: Beginner
I spent 5 months living and travelling in Mexico when I was 18 and did one year of university (beginner) courses in Spanish. This has not given me the base or proficiency that I would like in the language. I would still classify myself as a beginner with limited vocabulary.
My goal is to create a very solid base in the Spanish language and then continue with lessons to form a more solid ability in conversationa l spanish.
A more long term goal, of mine, is to move to Spain or South America and either work in my profession (as a Dental Hygienist) or to teach english.
I love the Spanish language and want to be immersed in it and a part of it.
I will be starting a new job in July and once I have settled into it, and a routine, I would be willing to dedicate as much time as necessary to learning. I would like to consider making a move to Spain or South America in aproximately one year.
My biggest concern and personal challenge is learning to understand the language when it is spoken to me. I would like to form a base in writing, reading, and speaking of course...but a concentration on hearing and understanding is paramount.

Hi I am looking for spanish classes. I lived in Spain for a year so I have an intermediate to a pre-advanced level. I would like to keep my level in Spanish high because I will be going to spanish immersion in UVIC May 2007. I would love to take classes twice a week. I am looking at more conversation but grammer is oviously important.
