I have recently begun study of the Nepali language on my own through the use of a textbook, but I am extremenly committed to learning the language. I would like to come in contact with a teacher who I can go to with questions and to find help in speaking the language (rather than just being able to read the language). I hope to live in Nepal in the future and I am committed to learning as much as I can before going. I have previous experience learning and studying languages-I took three years of Greek in college. My main hope in a teacher is finding someone who can help me with conversationa l skills. I am pretty good at learning grammar and conjugation from a textbook, but I believe that a textbook can only take you so far. Thank you for your help.

I am a beginner in Nepali, though have studied a variety of other languages including Japanese and French (in which I am fluent). I am planning on conducting research in the Kathmandu Valley in 2006 and would like to take some introductory courses now in order to prepare myself for the future! I can commit to two lessons a week in person, and three through video conferencing, text chat, voice chat, etc. I am looking for a teacher that has experience teaching Nepali, who speaks English and/or French (in order to clarify vocab, with varied and well-organize d pedagogical skills, and who possibly has an interest in the arts. I need improvement in all areas, as have never spoken a word of Nepali in my life.
