I am an Arabic native and speak English very well and would like to learn Mandarin to advance my career.
I currently speak no Mandarin at all. However, after learning the basics of written and spoken Chinese; having a good grasp of grammar and fairly large number of characters; I will spend some time in China in a language institute to properly learn the language.
But in order to benefit the most from the time I will spend in China, I need to learn the very basics here. I am currently using interactive software to learn Chinese but that the lack of proper guidance and structure is a big obstacle.
I will dedicate at least 1 hour a day during working days (given my full time job) and at least 3 hours a day in weekends. Moreover, I would like to add to that 3 or 4 hours a week of private classes.
The teacher should be fluent in Mandarin and speaks English (or Arabic) and should have the ability to teach Chinese to a non-Chinese speaker. The availability of a structured course material is a plus (but not a must).

I am trying learning french for reasons that might seem logically solid, but enough for me to embark on this journey. To expose, enlighten, and better myself is my reason. I hope that is an enough reason to whomever is reading this.
I know nothing about the french language. I know how to count to 5, but that is not something considerable, right? maybe in this country it is? i dont know.
I suspect you have already deduced that i need to learn about everything right?
For this summer? I think a month would do me a lot of good.
