I am engaged to marry someone who grew up in Germany and it is the language spoken in their home. I would like to learn some German for my own benefit in communicating with the family as well as with anyone else I meet when in Germany. My proficiency is quite low, however I have heard the language quite a bit and am noticing that a lot of it is similar sounding to English, so sometimes I am able to figure out the general subject matter. I am a consultant/pr oposal developer for a media company so my hours are flexible. I would like to dedicate 2-4 hours a week, split into 2-3 lessons a week. I imagine two hours a week would suffice but am willing to do more. I am not looking for a lot of focus on grammar, as I intend to use German only verbally and in everyday conversation. It would be good for my teacher to be someone who is a native English speaker if possible, but not a must.
