I am an absolute beginner with the French language.
I am traveling in the fall (2006)to France and wish to learn the basics of the language before I leave. If I had more time, I would learn as much as possible and hope someday to be fairly fluid.
I would naturally at first, want to focus on learning the best way to comunicate when traveling.
I would be willing to dedicate whatever time the teacher thought was appropriate in order to learn what I need before my trip to France, (cost willing.)
I just need someone to be pacient with me, and creative in their teaching, I'm not a good text-book learner, I need interactive teaching.
I want to have fun with it. :)

I am a total beginner.
I have just returned from a trip to Japan and would like to return there someday but found that there was a language barrier as not many people spoke English.
A s for time to dedicate to learning, I would make the time if it was a 'Live, in person' class. I work during the day and have a business at home that takes up some of my time in the evenings but I am willing to juggle things to accomodate my lessons.
I would like to be taught by someone who is fluent in the language and knows the nuances and inflections used. While in Japan I was around people that had different skill levels and found that people who learned the language from books had a hesitant way of speaking. While others that had immersed themselves were quite fluent and their speach flowed.

Beginner.
However, I do have some proficiency in languages being fairly fluent in French and at one time able to stumble through in Spanish.
I want to learn one of the Scandinavian languages with an eye to emigrating there. I recollect that Norwegian has common traits with Danish and Swedish and in practical terms is likely the best one to learn.
I will have at least a couple of hours a week to devote to it and would seek out native speakers here for practise.
