I am coming to Athens, at the British School, from the 20th of June to the 3rd of July 2010. I would like to arrange a series of private lessons, through the period, to improve my modern Greek. I work at Durham University, UK, department of Classics. I speak Italian, English and French. I am also very proficient in Ancient Greek, which I teach at University level (from beginner to advanced). As for Modern Greek, I am a post-beginner (perhaps intermediate)

I would like to learn Greek as my husband and I have purchased a house there and intend to live there when we retire in two years time. I have been learning some words by myself but I am unable to string a sentence together and I know that my pronunciation is poor. As we are going to live in a small village I know that we can not expect every one to speak English. I would like to be able to converse in Greek so that I can make friends and intergrate into the community.
I would like to do one to two hours per week. I work full time so I am not available during the day, but I could make evenings or weekends.
I think live teaching would be better for me as it is conversation and pronunciation that I would like to become competant at.

I currently live in liverpool and work in the manchester airport region, so i would ideally need a class after work in between the two locations.
I have a basic level of greek therefore i would like to develop all areas.
Short term goal to be able to talk to friends in greek and with a long term goal of being able to work in Greece.
I am anticipating 1-2 hours of tutiorial which is face to face and i imagine a group class will work out more economical for me, however i will be considering 1 to 1 tutorial if it is not too expensive.
Can anyone help me?
