Hello Professor,
I am interest in learning to speak and hopefully to write in Mandarin. I am a beginner, I would like to take courses because of my job. I can spend an hour or two on the weekdays. I would like to know if you are teaching anywhere else in a 8-10 group of people other than in chicago. What days of the week and hour you are offering?

My two young sons and I would like to learn mandarin. My husband is currently taking Berlitz lessons (paid by his employer). Our family hopes to someday live and work in China. My heritage is Chinese/Hawai ian (I was born in Honolulu) and neither of my parents spoke Chinese.
My husband and I would like to spend at least 1 hour per week in lessons, and practicing at least 1/2 hour a day. Our boys are young (6 and 8 yrs.) and we also have very busy lives with school, work, and sports.
We would like our lessons to be fun but useful. We would like a teacher who incorporates fun into language learning, but not at the expense of being overly goofy or irreverent. We would like a teacher who gives good feedback and encouragement , and who can relate well to both young children AND grownups.

Beginner
I am looking to move to China to first go to school and then eventually use the skill to further my career.
I only know a very few words, so I would be starting from scratch.
I don't know how much time I would need to dedicate to my lessons, but I would would not mind doing some pretty intensive training.
I am looking for someone who would like to help a complete beginner who has a real passion for China and its culture. I spent the summer of 04 there and really want to get back as soon as I have enough money.
