Description |
I am looking for a private tutor for my 15-year-old daughter. She is a bi-national (holding a Japanese passport) who wants to acquire at least conversationa l skills to better communicate with relatives and when she is travelling in Japan. She is essentially at the beginner level.
She is a 10th grader in a rigorous private school and studies take much of her time. One session, 1-2 hours long, once a week, with 1-3 hours of homework, may be the limit of what she can do, at least to start. Times available would be weekday afternoons from about 3:30 pm on and weekend afternoons. I think my daughter would probably be the most comfortable with a younger female tutor with an open, friendly manner. A native speaker would be desirable but not a requirement.

Description |
Hello.
My name is Ashleigh, I'm 14 years old. I've been working on trying to learn some Japanese by myself for 2 years now, and I've found that the Japanese writing system is too complex for me to teach it to myself. I know basic words and I can read Romaji Japanese, though I can't understand a lot. I've been working on Katakana lately. I'm still a beginner though, and I'd like to start from the beginning, so I get a good idea of the language so I can learn to speak fluently. I have experience in learning languages as well, since I've studied French and I lived in Germany for 4 years and can speak German fluently. I will work hard to learn and make progress.
I wish to study Japanese, because I love Japan, it's culture, it's language and everything that goes with it. I think that the Japanese language is very beautiful, especially the written form of Japanese. I know that Japanese is a hard language to learn, and I am looking forward to a challenge. I love learning new languages too, it's one of my hobbies.
I think I know the Japanese grammatical structure well enough, and my pronunciation is good, in my opinion. I need help mostly in learning Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. Also, I need to learn more vocabulary, since at the moment, I only know your basic introductions and the 'otaku' vocab.
Since I love Japanese, I'd be willing to spend at least an hour every day studying by myself. I think once or twice a week for the lessons themselves would be good, for however long the teacher wants. I will dedicate my free time to study, if it is needed.
I' m looking for a teacher who will help me learn well, but who will also be nice. I've had tutors before who pushed me so hard, that I grew tired of lessons, and I don't want that to happen. I promise to work hard during lessons and to do whatever homework that is given, but I'd like to enjoy my lessons as well. I am also definitley willing to pay for my lessons.
T hank you very much for taking the time to read this, I really appreciate it. I hope you will contact me soon. *smiles*
