I have never spoken, read, or written manadarin.
I want to learn Manadarin because it will be the principal language of commerce in 10-15 years time.
I would like to start with conversationa l Manadarin.
I can dedicate about 4-8 hours a week to learning.
I speak English, not American. I am very formal about correct grammar, word usage, and speech. I wish to learn classical, formal Manadarin from someone who is well educated, very well spoken, and retains formal speech and correct grammar. I do not want to learn slang or street dialects of the language.

I have been studying Mandarin Chinese in my spare time for two years, but have very limited skills. For example, I can only read a few characters in Chinese. I have been using Pimsleur language tapes, but progress has been slow. While I do ok with the first 10 hours of tapes, I can't hold much of a conversation yet.
I'm learning mainly for fun. I speak a little German and a little more Spanish, but am a native American English speaker. Career benefits are minor.
I'm particularly interested in corresponding with someone who wants to learn English in exchange for helping me with Chinese. I'm a biologist and botanist, so would really enjoy contacting a foreign botanist.
I spend about 3-4 hours per week working with the language tapes, and would like to spend a little more time writing.
I might consider some 'pay' instruction, but would prefer group courses to one-on-one instruction.
I use an email address for this posting that is normally reserved for spam. Fortunately, my 'spam attracter' email address gets little or no spam. I just use it for websites I don't have experience with like this one. I will check that address the next few days and weeks to see if you respond.

I am a beginner in mandarin chinese. I will start formal university classes in chinese next year at FIU. I am learning Mandarin Chinese because I am an International Relations/Asi an Studies major, therefore I need to know the language to excel in my field. I currently have no experience with the language, so I need help in all fields. I am looking for a teacher who is a native speaker of the language with writting, reading, and speaking skills in the language. Hi! I am looking for a Chinese Mandarin tutor for my daughter aged 6 years old. We are currently reside in Homosassa, Florida. My daughter speaks fluent English, but since we are chinese descendent; therefore, we think that our daughter should be able to speak and write Mandarin as well.
It would be greatly appreciated if the tutor could teach my daughter how to read and write in Mandarin. Please let me know what is the cost for taking the lessons and how many times a week needed (how many hours per lesson).
