I have studied Hindi for one year so far. I am studying it alongside my Ph.D studies, and will be conducting fieldwork in the Hindi belt next year and then wish to work in that area professionall y. I stay in Chennai and need a teacher for 3-4 weeks from mid-August for 5-6 hours per day on weekdays. I am looking for a teacher whose native language is Hindi and who is used to teaching those whose native language is English. They also need to be well-versed in teaching the fine points of grammar, and not expectant that I will simply pick this up along the way. Preferably, they will be familiar with Rupert Snell's Teach Yourself Hindi that I am working through independently , since I wish to be at the standard that this takes students up to by the end of my tuition period.

My proficiency level in Chinese-Manda rin is that of a Beginner and the reason for learning the same is for career advancement/b eing able to communicate with the natives in Singapore.
The main focus must be on conversationa l Mandarin with adequate grammar necessary for a smooth conversation.
In a month's time, I would like to learn atleast basic Mandarin in order to be able to move around in the country.
I would not mind dedicating 4 hours a day on the same.
The teacher must also be as serious about making me conversant with basic Mandarin and I would ensure a lot of involvement from my end.
