Although a version of Tamil is the language my parents speak, I find that there are some aspects of Tamil grammar I do not understand - I do not know how to express certain thoughts (especially conditionals, hypotheticals - if...then, conditionals in past and future etc.). Although I can get by, I cannot really conduct lengthy conversations in Tamil. My vocabulary and grammar is poor, and very much mixed in with Malayalam, so that I don't even know which words are Tamil and which are not.
I am looking for a teacher who can make me proficient in the areas where I want to be proficient : conducting interviews with tea workers, slum dwellers etc, and being able to understand the news. I need practice in conversationa l Tamil at a high level, with expression of complex ideas.
I can dedicate four hours a week to this.
