My proficiency level is probably 1. I bought a self teach Russian language course but I am the type of person that needs a class and guidlines with goals. The reason I am learning to speak Russian is because I will be married to a Russian woman. I am interested in the language and culture but really would like to be able to communicate with my wife in her native language. I am willing to spend up to $400 dollars a month on lessons. At 20 dollars an hour I figure that should cover about 20 class hours a month not including home work. I really want to learn the language as quickly as possible and be proficiant with reading and writing. I think I am a pretty quick learner and would take the initiative to learn on my own if I could just get a good set of guidlines for learning a language. I've had every kind of teacher there is and once in the program mold myself to be the ideal student.

I am working on my Master's Degree and currently enrolled in University of Houston Accelerated Russian Language course - 2 years condensed into 1 semester. I attend class every day. I am doing very well but, the end of the semester is near and I would like to continue with Russian language instruction over the summer to maintain what I have learned. I have always had a passion for the Russian language and culture. I need to work on conversationa l Russian and also case endings of words (prepositiona l, dative, etc.) I haven't yet developed a system for all of those yet.
I am learning the language because my intent is to earn a PhD in Russian History and perhaps work as a translator or in the Russian Consulate office. I truly enjoy the language. I am a serious student (in my mid-40's) with a 4-year-old with whom I talk in Russian as well. I am willing to discuss a summer schedule (and perhaps even more) with a Russian language instructor.

I am a beginner, with no prior experience. I would like to learn swahili because I'm going abroad in the fall to Tanzania and would like to get a head start. It would be myself and one other student who would be interested in learning, and we could like to meet 2-3 times a week for about an hour. Thanks.
