I am a beginner and I will be in the Philippines for the summer. I have always wanted to learn Tagalog and I will have a lot of time to do so when I am there. I've had up to Intermediate level studies in Japanese; 3 terms in College. I have also taken Kanji courses to an Intermediate level as well (3 terms). However, this was over one year ago and I have lost most of my skills in the language. My aim is to be able to pass the JLPT level 3 as easily as I can. I am very much interested more in conversationa l and comprehension skills as I lacked these back when I was studying.
I want to dedicate as much time to relearning Japanese as possible, but I also want to take Tagalog in stride. I say this because of my interest in wanting to be in the Philippines for an extended time as well as me being of Filipino ancestry.
What I'm looking for is just a friendly way of communication in either language. I am also looking for a patient teacher as I can become quite slow at certain things.

I have lived in the Philippines my whole life i understand tagalog to an extent. i can pretty much pick up things here and there. i just can converse. I know words here and there, but i think if i started at the beginning with the basics and had some really intensive teaching i could get fluent pretty quickly. I am willing to dedicate maybe 4 hours a week. I would love to be given take home material as well so i can be learning the whole time. I am looking for a teacher that will start at the very basics and continue to build on those principals. and i definitely need a teacher to be strict to an extent. and i definitely need a teacher that is not too far from where i live.
