I am planning an adventure tour in China this October, and I would like to be able to meet people and ask simple questions along the way. I have never studied Chinese, but I find it a very fascinating language, very different from the other languages I know or am acquainted with. I am also fluent in German (the language of my parents), have studied French and traveled in France using only my French. I am a singer, so I am also familiar with most European languages, and have performed in Russian and Hebrew. My schedule is very full, so I am looking to maximize my study with one-on-one tutoring once a week. I am not expecting to be proficient in Chinese by October, but rather to be familiar with the sounds, general pronunciation , and to be able to meet people and ask simple questions.

I have never spoekn any Swahili before, but i am wanting to prepare for my upcomming trip to Bagamoya, Tanzania. I will be there for three weeks to volunteer. It is not necessary that i learn however i would like to communicate better with the people that i meet there. I am a student at California State University Northridge. I am from San Diego.
