I'm welling to learn the Russian language as I am planning to start a business with Russian partners and i think learning the language will very much help. The main reason for wanting to learn Russian and Turkish is for the purpose of career advancement. I will start my PHD program in political science next year, and my area of focus is Eastern Europe/Caucas us. Many of the documents and articles written on that region are either in Turkish or Russian. Learn both languages would definitely help. I do not have a background in either language, and will need to start from scratch.
