My mother is a native of Iraq and her entire family speaks Assyrian except for me. I am learning foreign languages becasue I hope to become fluent and visit these countries someday. I know very little assyrian (except for the little my mum taught me). I will dedicate an hour per lesson we have and will be a very dedicated student. I am half Assyrian on my father's side and he never taught me the language. I would like to get more involved in the Assyrian community and obtain a career in Assyrian affairs, but I must learn the language first. Being a beginner, I only know few words and phrases and would have to learn all aspects of the language. I am willing to dedicate ten hours a week to learn Assyrian. I am looking for a teacher that can speak fluent and proper English and Assyrian to guarantee that I learn correctly.
