Level: Lower Intermediate
Motivation: Studying Chinese at undergraduate level, finding it hard to keep up with classes and need more practice.
I am an undergraduate student at Cambridge University and have been learning Mandarin there for a year. Most of my classmates spent this summer in China to consolidate their learning. For various reasons I could not make it to China this summer, but hope to go in December 2005/January 2006. I would like to take a few classes before the new term begins in October.
I am also interested in finding a term-time tutor in Cambridge.
I would like to have 2-3 study sessions a week between now (29.08.05) and 14th September, and possibly more later in September. Maybe for one or two hours per session and I am willing to do homework to consolidate.
Qualities: I would like my teacher to be enthusiastic, encouraging, patient and thorough.
My particular weaknesses are in spoken and aural chinese. I need to improve my pronunciation and tonal awareness.
I would like to have the lessons at my home. EC1, Between Barbican and Angel tube stations.
I am keen to improve my Mandarin and look forward to hearing from you.

Currently My level is between beginner and lower-interme diate. The objective of learning Mandarin is, ultimately, career advancement, but for the time being I want to improve my Mandarin to conversationa l level.
I am now using the textbook named 'Chinese for today' for self-study purposes. Because my native language, i.e. Japanese, shares lots of characters with Chinese, reading and writing are not so difficult, but listening and conversation are becoming a priority.
I can meet a teacher once or twice a week. I am a graduate student in London, and might be difficult to have more classess because of my busy study.
I would like to have an individual lesson with a teacher who has a professional background in teaching Mandarin to foreigners. Also, if he/she has a degree in education or teaching, that would be very helpful.
