I am a beginner and would like to advance my language studies. I would like to spend at least a few hours a week with a teacher one on one and subsequent days studying. Qualities I would like to see in a teacher are proficient knowledge of the language (if not native), a way to make learning fun and interesting. I am planning a trip to Thailand in March, 2006. I would like to learn as much of the Thai language as I can in 5 - 6 months before I visit. I was there 11 years ago. I am a beginner with a small knowledge of Thai. I will visit Thai and American friends there, in Bangkok. I would like to be able to speak a bit of the Thai language on this visit. Most of my friends speak English, but others don't. I'd like to be able to talk some basic Thai on this visit. I know this will make my week vacation in Thailand more enjoyable and rewarding. I would like to take a one on one tutorial class once a week, preferably during a weekday, during the day. I think the most important quality in a teacher is a good balance between patience and motivation

Hi,
I'm interested in improving my proficiency in French. I believe I'm an intermediate beginner. The areas in which I need particular improvements are conversation and writing. I would like to become bilingual not only for personal enrichment but for career advancement.

I have studied Chinese for 2 years, but my proficiency is that of a first year student. My future daughter-in-l aw is a Chinese national, and I want to be able to speak to her parents. Also, I want to travel a little more independently in China, so would like to improve my beginning Chinese. I would like to take a 2 hour lesson in the evening, once a week, on the U of Washington campus if possible. The most helpful method would be for us to use a text, such as the Integrated Chinese text, and go through lesson by lesson.
