I am a 70 year old widow, still employed, interested in learning Mandarin Chinese. I expect to retire in two or three years. I would like to begin a new career. I would like to teach English at levels Ktgn. through Grade 8 via the Internet to young foreign students, especially young Chinese students. When I was younger, I spend some years as a 'live-in' school teacher (Governess). My students were educationally handicapped or older foreign adoption. I loved the work. I taught all subjects through Grade 8. I wrote individual programs for my students which highly accelerated the speed at which they could complete each level of study. However, as I lived in the homes of my students, who were under my care 24 hours a day, I eventually grew too old to continue such phyiscally exhausting work. I seek a native Chinese instructor who can guide me in developing a knowledge of the culture of China as well as its official language.

I currently took over managing Asia for our company and I will be spending a considerable amount of time in China, as well as other countries. I would like to learn Mandarin for business, as well as personal, growth. I am very interested and intrigued by China and it's culture.
I can speak some basic phrases and words now, and have some books on learning Mandarin, but that just isn't enough to learn all the subtle tonal qualities of the language.
Any information you can give me about your programs would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I am currently enrolled in a Mandarin Chinese class which is beginner level. The class meets once a week. 'New Chinese 300.'
I am learning this language because I have always been interested in it but did not have the time nor schedule to pursue this desire. I believe I need improvement in conversation as that is the level I am currently at. I dedicate at least 30 minutes per day except the class day which is much longer. If I am lucky I try for an hour it just depends on how my schedule is going. It is very tight.
The qualities I am looking for in the tutor/teacher is expertise, fluency in the language and the ability to help me succeed.
