I am completely a beginner in Portuguese, but the reason I want to learn it is so that I may communicate with my grandmother in Brazil, along with my father, grandfather, and uncles. My grandmother speaks only a few words in English, and I would like to be able to talk to her without the necessary translation from my father. I recently just met my family in Brazil for the first time in twenty years, and I am only twenty-one years old. You will find that I am a very dedicated student, and will try to work in whatever schedule I may so that I may learn to communicate better.

Beginner. Going to Brazil on April 10, 2006 (less than 2 weeks away). I will be there for 3 months training with a soccer team. Need to get a intensive 10day course of Portuguese basics and for e.g. football terms.(have been trying to learn basics from a phrase book over the last few weeks)
Can dedicate 2-3 hours a day (morning or afternoon)Mon day-Friday, and Sunday if available.
