I am just above a beginner level. I studied with Berlitz for a year and then had private lessons off-and-on since then (but none of them were Japanese!). I worked for Sony for many years and visited Japan ~4 times/yr. I came away with a love for the Japanese culture and language and have wanted to continue studying. However, I may have forgotten half of what I've learned already! I currently work just outside of Baltimore, but in a field that has nothing to do with Japanese. This interest is purely self motivated, although I do have a brother-in-la w in Japan who has a Japanese wife and children, so, for that reason alone, it would be nice to continue learning the language.
