I speak fluent Spanish and as a University student studying Latin American Studies, I would like to expand my knowledge of languages to include Portuguese. I am an absolute beginner in Portuguese. Next year I would like to participate in a university exchange to Brazil, so I would need practice in all areas of the language, written and spoken. I would probabaly like to take weekly lesson.

Time available - 1 lesson a week
Quali ties in a teacher - looking for practical language skills, more vocal than text oriented... street slang a plus. I want to be able to drop into the streets of Brazil, or do interviews in a Favela, the moment I touch down on Brazilian soil.
I'm willing to put in the time, over the next 2 or 3 years, to get the conversationa l skills needed to live and work in Brazil. I intend to start up a business, so I need to be able to communicate directly with employees... I do NOT want to have to rely on a middleman.
