I am a Chicago native seeking to improve my Arabic language skills to further my academic and personal interest in the Middle East and North Africa. I have taken the equivalent of one year and a half of introductory Modern Standard Arabic as well as a semester's worth of conversationa l Moroccan Arabic (in Morocco). I can read and write MSA and received a score of 'Advanced Low' on the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI). I am looking for an instructor for up to five hours a week to further my reading, writing, and speaking abilities in MSA. I would prefer a tutor who can accommodate a flexible schedule as I work a full-time job with irregular hours.

My level of proficiency is beginner. I am familiar with Arabic language...An a barif shwayet Aarabi, which is from the time I spend with people who speak Arabic, and from using Pimsler audio cd's. I am 23 years old.
I want to learn Arabic because my new family speaks Arabic. I also love the language and I am thinking of converting to Islam. I read the Quran in English right now, but would one day like to read it the way it was written for us to read, Arabic. As a long-term goal I would like to learn Arabic so that I can move to the Middle-East and pursue my career there. I am a graphic designer and work for a company here, but would like the opportunity to move and work somewhere else. The level of proficiency I would need in written and conversation could be discussed. Also to be discussed would be if I would get any kind of a degree or certificate with the accomplishmen t of my studies.
I have a job that takes up 8 hours of my day monday-friday , and this leaves evenings and weekends available for my language lessons.
So the time I have to dedicate can also be discussed with these restrictions in mind.
I don't have any specification s of qualities in my teacher. I assume that if he/she is teaching me that he/she is the expert and knows the language, and how to best teach it to me.
