I am learning Russian because I have been to Russia (Moscow) twice, the first time for two weeks and the second time this past summer for six weeks. I fell in love with the language and the people, and I would love nothing more than to be able to communicate with them better.
I am a beginner in Russian. I know the alphabet and certain words and phrases.
I feel I need improvement in most areas. Grammar is something I definitely need some improvement in. I would love to be able to converse in russian. I would also like to improve my written russian.
I'm a University student, but I am fully committed to spending around 3 hours a week on learning the Russian Language.
I am looking for the best environment possible to learn as much Russian as I can. I am planning to return to Russia in the summer of 2010 and I am hoping to be able to better communicate with all the life long friends I have made there.

My reason for wanting to learn Russian is I have traveled to Ukraine and Moldova eight times and always needed a translator. I would like to go there again and not need a translator or use one during a limited amount of time.
I know a few words of Russian. However, I am not 100% certain my pronunciation is correct. I am a beginner. I cannot read or write any Russian and cannot carry on a conversation. I need help from a beginner's level. I have never taken a language lesson in the past. The only language I know is English.
I should be able to take one hour of lessons once every two weeks during the first couple of months and then study between lessons. After that, I would like to take one lesson each week, if time allows. I do not lack motivation, but free time is sometimes very tight.
I understand Russian is a difficult language to learn, so I would like my teacher to be patient and polite, as I am, while at the same time be able to explain things in a manner I will be able to understand and comprehend. I would prefer a woman teacher.
