I am a beginner.
As I will be posted to Cambodia to work in about 6-9 months time, I would like to be able to converse with Cambodians on a daily basis during the course of my work there. I would like to take this period of time to learn the language before I actually go there, even though I may be travelling there periodically in the mean time. My whole family will re-locate with me in due time.
I am willing to dedicate about 2-3 times per week, but I am open to the teacher's suggestion whether it is too much or too little time as my target is to learn it within 6 months.
Ba sic requirement of the teacher is first and foremost able to teach me to speak and understand and converse Khmer verbally (that is, normal daily Khmer conversation) .
Second part will be to read and write the written language.
I am 44 yrs old , my wife 39. We may want to learn it together, but that is yet to be decided.

I have studied Mandarin for a few months while living in Hong Kong. Also I klived 3 months in Beijing where I under World Link and attended Quing Hua Univertsity and studied Mandarin. Here min Singapore I have taken Mandarin courses first at NUS for 3 months and then for 3 months at Cambridge Language Shcool. I am currently somewhere between intermidiate and advanced level in Mandarin, but am looking for further improvement in conversation and maybe also writing. I am interested in studying in small groups up to 15 hourts a week (3 hours a day). I am looking for a teacher that has real teaching experience and is not jiust teaching for fun.
