I am married to a Brasileira but I have not mastered Brasilian Portuguese. I would classify myself as a beginner who is developing an ear for the language and is ready to learn to speak. I would find it easier to learn with a tutor and then to practice at home.
I would like at least a weekly one-on-one lesson in Portuguese, preferably downtown Chicago, which is where I work.
I will be vacationing again in Brasil in November this year and would like to have decent conversationa l skills by then.

My proficiency level would probably be advanced. I am learning the langauge for career advancement. The areas which i need work are certain grammatical aspects, accent, idiomatic expressions, and always vocabulary. I am a beginner with some knowledge of Portuguese. Already took a beginner's class in Germany, but that was some time ago. Worked with different textbooks, most recently Avenida Brasil.
