I do not know any Catalan at all and have plans for moving to Barcelona next year for an undetermined amount of time. I was thinking about taking spanish classes however i spent some time in Barcelona a few years ago and found that people respond better to their native language of Catalan eventhough they do speak spanish as well. I have about 3 days to spare during the week for classes. Some things I would like from a teacher would be patience and the ability to teach me not just formal language but also things that i can use everyday talking to anyone, more realistic translations that include slang. I find alot of things cant be applied to the usual way people speak to eachother. My family is multi-lingual and I look forward to being so as well.

I am a native Spanish speaker seeking a Catalan private tutor. I am a professional in the Oil industry living in Houston, Texas. I plan to complete an MBA in the next couple of years, then relocate to Spain. One of my options is Barcelona and this is the reason why I wish to learn Catalan. I want to become a more competitive candidate when searching for a job. I have no previous knowledge of Catalan, so I would be a beginner. I am interested in grammar and conversation - Catalan culture and civilization. I would be interested in lessons once or twice per week.
I am looking for a native speaker preferably, with a professional language development plan.
