My proficiency is that of a beginner. I studied spanish in high school/colleg e and have learned some portuguese from travelling to Brazil. I would like to improve my portuguese in order to potentially do business in Brazil and because i enjoy studying languages. I have never tested in Portuguese but I have taken some classes and travel to Brazil fairly frequently. I am in the process of applying to the Fulbright Fellowship and would like to become fluent in order to teach in Salvador.
Id eally I would like to take an intensive course in Portuguese, as it seems the only way I truly learn is when I am immersed in the language. However, while in DC, I could probably manage to take one class per week on a regular basis - 3 hours per week.
I am particularly interested in a teacher who will speak to me only in Portuguese. I need a lot of help with verb conjugations and usage.

I would like to find a language school or private instruction in Manaus, Brazil. I currently live in Dallas, Texas, but travel several times/year to Brazil for mission work with Amazon Outreach, as well as personal visits with 'minha familia brasileira'.
I would like an intensive course study in Portuguese for the remainder of 2004 in Manaus. I have taken basic conversationa l Portugues, levels I, II, and III. These classes are held just 1 day per week, but I can currently carry on a very basic conversation.
I would like to become fluent & utilize this in international business in the future. Thank you, in advance, for any suggestions or assistance you can offer.
