I wish to learn Polish to better understand & communicate with my significant other's family. I would like to be able to learn the alphabet as well as read and speak Polish in conversation. I would be considered a beginner having to learn the very basics of the alphabet, etc. I would like to dedicate a minimum of 2 hours weekly for formal teaching in addition to my own studies and practice. I am looking for a teacher who is patient, organized and fun.

My ethnic heritage is Ukrainian. My grandparents emigrated from southwest Ukraine to Alberta, Canada, in the early 1930s. My mother, her sister and brother were all taught Ukrainian as a first language but quickly lost their ability to speak and understand Ukrainian once they began attending English-langu age schools.
I would like to learn Ukrainian for two reasons: first, to better my appreciation of my ethnic background, and second, to have the ability to communicate with some of my older, Ukrainian-spe aking patients as I work as a Registered Nurse in Edmonton, Alberta.
I would like to learn conversationa l Ukrainian, as well as the ability to read the language in popular media such as newspapers and magazines.
I would like to have language lessons twice a week.
I would like my teacher to be very patient with me and enjoy teaching the language.

I have been extremely interested in learning Latin for most of my adult life. I am now at a time in my life where I feel that I can focus on beginning to learn the many facets of this amazing language.
