I am a beginner. My partner is from South Africa. I am going over there in one month and will be spending 2 months there. My proficiency level in Afrikaans is beginner. However, I know flemish and was fluent at one time. I can understand some spoken Afrikaans and can read simple sentences.
I am learning Afrikaans because my partner is from South Africa and we will be moving there in June. While I know they speak English, I am committed to learning Afrikaans.
I will spend about two hours a day at home actively studying the language, and two half days or one full day a week with an instructor depending on how we are able to work out a mutual schedule.
I am looking for a native speaker of Afrikaans, preferably someone who is extremely proficient not only in speaking the language, but in the ability to teach as well. I prefer that the teacher is patient and kind.
