I have always wanted to learn another language, Japanese just seems like a good idea, because I am interested in the Japanese culture and would like to travel, if not live there one day. I have no back ground at all with Japanese. Although, I would be determined to learn this language and I am rather ambitous, plus a good student, given the right teacher. To have a teacher whose skills are advanced with the Japanese language would be best. When the teacher is confident in what they do, the student always seems to be more interested in the subject. Japanese does not have to be their native tounge, but if the teacher was to go to Japan, they could fit in just as if they had grown up there. Lessons times can not be to overbearing, being that I will have a full time job and taking two internet courses through Colorado Mountain College. Once or twice a week for one or two hours would be alright, as far as lesson plans are concerned, I should leave that to the teacher, homework is a must.

I am most definitely a beginner. I have wanted to gain fluency in spanish since I was a little girl, but have not had anyone to converse with on a regular basis. I seem to pick it up quickly as I am very eager to learn and love many latin cultures, but as soon as I lose the opportunity to practice it I slip dramatically on grammar proficiency. I will go out of my way to make it to classes and would like to meet several times a week if possible. I watch tv series and movies in spanish all the time, as well as listen to latin cd's. I can sing to Cafe Tacuba, Aterciopelado s and tons of other bands, but that doesn't do me much good in conversation! I want to be able to retire somewhere in Central America, and speak spanish as my primary language. I just hope that my teacher will give me as much homework as he/she thinks I can handle, and has a sense of humor and patience with their students.

I am looking for a Cantonese teacher for an absolute beginner. I am interested in learning for my own interest and would like to find a teacher who is enthusiastic, able to speak some English, and not committed to teaching solely through rote memorization. I do not have any textbooks or workbooks but could find some. I would like to learn a few times a week, as I am a working mom who does not have a lot of extra time right now. Still, I am very motivated and interested in languages (I teach high school Spanish and Latin).
