I would be considered a beginner. Although I have attempted to learn German through computer software, I feel I need a teacher to provide guidance and discipline. My wife and I are thinking of a European vacation in the future. She is already taking Spanish lessons and knows a little French. I am very interested in learning enough German to be able to converse with the German people. I would be willing to spend 1 night a week with a teacher, spending the rest of the week studying prior to each lesson.

I know enough German to barely get by at a pub or restaurant. I would like to learn German because of career advancement possibilities and I've always wanted to become proficient in a second language. I am a beginner German. I took three years in high schhol but once I went off to college I did not continue so I have forggoten a lot.
