I am a mathematics graduate living and working in Nicosia. I have Neenah living here for around 7 months now and have picked up some basic Greek (mainly slang, I assume) and it is essential for my job role that I become fluent in this language. I currently work at Aperitivo in IT and system design/develo pment and the language barrier can create a problem for me not being able to brainstorm when colleagues naturally slip into native tongue when they get passionate about ideas. I would say I was a beginner when it came to conversing as I am low in confidence due to a lack of responses that I have to my disposal. I would like to spend at least 6 months learning on my own as well as as spending an hour or two per week with a teacher who could test me and push me on. I would like to speak to them face to face and ask recommendatio ns for learning aids and find out exactly where and when potential lessons could take place. The ideal time for me would be 1pm-2pm once a week with the potential to step it up to twice per week. Any day of the week would suite me.
