I am interested in learning Japanese, mostly because I found out that I have Japanese ancestry and am interested in my roots. I've always been interested in the culture and I also enjoy learning new languages. I am fluent in English, however I do understand and speak French decently, as well as knowing a bit of German and Tagalog (Filipino).
I would be starting off as a beginner student in Japanese and I am most interested in conversationa l learning.
As far as time is concerned, I'd like to dedicate at least two to three hours a week to the lessons.
I am looking for a teacher who is not only well versed in the language, but also the culture associated with the language. I learn best through conversation and complete immersion and would like a teacher who teaches in this way as well.

I am learning Japanese because i am fascinated by the language and also because i have watched a few Japanese dramas and i think that it is interesting. My proficiency level is beginner. I think i need to improve in conversation and mostly other things such a verb conjugations and how to describe things. I would like to dedicate about 4 hours a week to learning Japanese. I would like to learn Mandarin for conversing and perhaps for career advancement. Although I'm ethnic chinese in Malaysia, I'm english educated. However, i do have exposure to the Mandarin language at work and can understand simple Mandarin.
I would like to learn another foreign language for fun and to pass the time. I've picked Japanese because I used to watch a lot of sub-titled anime but not anymore. I also have friends who might be interested as well.
I don't mind dedicating 2-3 hours a week per language. It also depends on the cost for the lessons. A dedicated and patient teacher is desirable. I believe the only way to learning a language is practice, so the teacher has to be someone I can actually enjoy speaking with.
