I started learning HIndi three years ago when I began working on my PhD. Then, the research became the priority and did not have enough time for Hindi. My level is still a beginner, but I know the alphabet and can write. My conversationa l level is very poor now, well taking into account a long break. I should be able to pick things up easily as I did cover quite a lot in the past.
My aim is to be able to speak Hindi proficiently. Have already been in India twice and am planning to go again for work. In terms of time commitment, it would be good to have two hours of classes and two-three hours of homework a week.
My background is in Linguistics. It would be nice to have a teacher who can explain things well (structure and grammar, nuances of the language).

Would like to renew my knowledge of Hindi as I was born in India and brought up in and around Calcutta and Darjeeling and went to school there. My father and husband worked in the jute mills beside the Hoogly. Also would like to revisit places in West Bengal and possibly Mumbai, Pune and Agra.
I learnt Bengali and Hindi in my boarding schools, but am more comfortable with Hindi. I would only speak coloquial (bazaar) Hindi until I was 3.
I can still remember some of the words and recognise some of the alphabet, but need improvement in grammar especially, and writing - would love to be able to read and write Hindi again confidently.
I am a mature aged student looking for a challenging subject to occupy my mind and time. Over the past 11 years I have attended computer classes studying various applications and aspects of the computer. Now I would like to try a new challenge, renew my love of India and revisit the places of my childhood and teen years.
I can dedicate two days a week (mor if needed) to studying Hindi.
I am looking for an understanding , experienced teacher, preferably female and possibly from West Bengal, who will guide me back to all things India.

Hi I am married for last 12 years with an Indian and have always found it hard to pick up Hindi. I am looking for a teacher to teach myself and our three children. (12,7,5) I find that we will do better at it if it is a structured learning.
