I want to speak it better when I visit or work in Thailand. I would like to sing some Thai songs.
My current skill is somewhere between beginner and advanced (different areas of speech and understanding are at various levels).
I need improvement in all areas.
I can dedicate several hours a week to the lessons and studying and I spend some time speaking Thai with folks in Thailand.
The teacher qualities that I look for is to be a native speaker, the ability to explain the difference in words that are used and not required but to help with some Issan words.

Two years ago I had the opportunity to visit Thailand with a group of 13 other awesome American teens, and I absolutely fell in love with the language and the people. While I was in Thailand, I did a two week long host stay and I felt such a strong connection to my host family, but I couldn't really speak to them because of the language barrier which bummed me out, because no matter how much they tried to include me in their lives, I still felt like a bit of an outsider because we couldn't speak to each other.
So I started teaching myself Thai when I got back to America by listening to and singing Thai songs on my youtube. I recently wrote one in Thai which went viral in Thailand, and now I have thousands of people that want me to succeed in learning Thai, and I'm going to try as hard as I can for them, my host family, and myself :)
