Hi,
I'm looking for some help with my spoken Hindi. I'm an Indian, living here in the U.S the past 3 years. I have never really felt a need to learn this language until I came here and realized that almost every other Indian knows or is expected to know the language.
I have recently been hired at a multi-nationa l company, and find it hard to converse with other Indians - since for some reason they wont talk in English.
I have an excellent command of the English and Tamil languages, and believe that I have a very good grasp of language in general. I can read and write hindi to a certain extent as well.
I would classify myself as a beginner in spoken hindi.
I need focus in conversationa l hindi and would look for a teacher who can understand my background and my individual needs to learn the language.
I'm prepared to dedicate upto a couple of hours every day to learn the language, but I'm looking for very specific, structured and progressive instruction.I am moving to Atlanta by the end of April 2005, and if there is anybody present locally available for personal tutoring, that would be great.

I am a beginning learner of Arabic. I have taught myself the alphabet and am trying to read a little bit. I'm listening to tapes in my car, and studying books when I can. My interest is in conversationa l Arabic, not for religious reasons. I am an ESOL Teacher, and thought that Arabic might help me communicate with my students. I am actually half Iranian, but my father never spoke Farsi with us and so now at 20 years old I am hoping to learn my father's language so that I might be able to communicate with my family over in Iran. I definitely want to focus on my conversationa l capabilities, but I want to learn to write and read and grammar as well. I can recite the alphabet and for the most part read and write it, I know numbers up to 100, and a few other basic courteous phrases. So, I am definitely at a beginner level. I am currently in school and working, so until June 2005, I will only be able to dedicate 3-4 hours to language lessons. After June I can commit to more time if we see that is possible or necessary.
