I have just started trying to learn
Brazilian Portuguese. I am using a computer program from BYKI. I have work related projects in Brazil and I would like to be able to mingle with the local people and speak Portuguese with my co workers. Conversation is where I would like to devote most of my time working on the language. When I am in Vancouver I don't work so I could spend more time on learning the language but I do travel with my work so I would rather have private lessons.

I am a 'mature' learner--have been studying Italian for 5 years once a week for pleasure. I love the country and culture and plan to continue travelling there when possible. My proficiency level might be considered intermediate and I would like to work further on conversation skills primarily, with some emphasis also on grammar, as well as reading comprehension . My first 3 years of instruction were at UBC Continuing Studies and the past 2 years, a friend and I were tutored privately by a native Italian teacher in her home. Since her return to Italy this summer, we are looking for a new native Italian teacher, ideally someone close to our ages who is able to meet us either in his/her home or one of ours.
