I will be in Jakarta in December 2010 for 4 weeks. I am wanting to do an intensive Bahasa Indonesia course either in a class or with a private tutor. I know very basic Bahasa Melayu, as I live and work in Brunei. I would like daily lessons for at least 2 weeks, maybe up to 4 weeks.
I am looking for a teacher who is well organised in preparing focussed lessons and is experienced in teaching Bahasa Indonesia. I took a Bahasa Melayu course in Brunei with a teacher who was disorganised, never planned his lessons, taught at an inappropriate level for his students, and would not answer questions from his students. Therefore, I am seeking an enthusiastic and skilled language tutor in Jakarta. I am a teacher myself.
I want to learn Bahasa Indonesia for several reasons. I want to be able to hold conversations with locals in Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. I would like to be able to read eventually in Indonesian/Ma lay. Also I am interested in post-grad study in the area of Indonesian politics/soci ety.
