I am looking for a Japanese teacher for my daughter who would like to take Asian Studies in University. She would be a beginner with the language. I have studied 4 years of Japanese in high school (may sound like a lot, but I still only learned the basics). In 2008, I did an internship as part of my University program with a Japanese company in Yokkaichi, Japan. I was there for seven months. I would like to go back to Japan someday and maybe live there. Therefore, I would like to get my JLPT Level 1 someday (2 at least!).
W hile I was in Japan, I was given 1-on-1 lessons a week provided by my company. I purchased a couple of text books for it.
I would say my Japanese level is conversationa l, but I have to think awhile before I know how to say something.
I prefer to do face-to-face lessons at least once a week.

I lived in Japan for nearly five years before returning to Canada in June of last year. My Japanese language ability has since declined and I'm looking for a teacher or language exchange partner to help me keep up my language and continue to improve it. I am a former research student at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (Tokyo Gaikokugo Daigaku) and a former Monbukagakush o scholar, and as such my skills are fairly advanced. However, I am very rusty, having barely used my Japanese for over a year, and my spoken Japanese is in particularly rough shape. I would prefer in-person classes, but I'm quite flexible. I have a heavy work schedule, so weekends (or the occasional evening) would be preferable.
