I wish to learn Norwegian because my wife is Norwegian and we are moving to Oslo in July 2012. I speak some Norwegian but am only able to follow the most basic of Norwegian conversations . I wish to improve to the point where my wife's friends and family do not feel they have to speak English for my sake, and I can more or less follow what they are saying. I am prepared to dedicate as much time as necessary to get to this point by the middle of next year. I am a fairly fast learner and would hope that 3 hours a week of tuition in two sessions plus homework would be enough.

I am learning so that I can talk to my friends without them having to speak in english when I'm there. I am not a complete beginner but as I am mainly self taught there might be basic things that I have not learnt. I go to a Norwegian class where I have to write essays, but the written work is not marked/correc ted. I am hoping to get a tutor who will help me work through my written work and explain where I am making mistakes with my grammar, help me improve my vocab and suggest things that I can do to improve in future - rather than someone who sticks to a lesson plan. Although I am interested in art and literature, topics can be anything from current affairs to cooking! I would like to spend at least 45mins a week on my lessons with the option to have longer money and time permitting. I am looking for a supportive teacher happy to untangle the mess I make of the Norwegian language.
