My sister and I are interested in learning to speak conversationa l German in person in the Houston area. Her husband is in the army and they are about to be transferred to Germany (20 minutes from Austria) in mid-August. I studied German many years ago, but have not used it since college days (1967)... now planning a 3-week trip to Germany (Koln) this summer and would like to brush up on vocabulary and conversation. I am able to speak greetings and salutations as well as some minor conversationa l german. I am looking to get a firm grasp on German so that I can advance my college, as German is going to be a major for me, and earn a decent job as a translator.
I am willing to devote as much time as needed. I mainly need help with grammor. Still haven't grasped the masculine and femmine.

I am preparing to take the German language translation exam at the end of the summer at UTD. I have been working on the Goedsche Cultural Graded Readers. Right now I am translating a Book IV level on Beethoven. It is somewhat difficult for me, but I am managing. In addition to the translations, I am also working on Schaum's German Grammar, and other grammar books.
I am seeking a tutor who can review my work with me twice a week.
