I'm Sam. I am from Perth Australia and I'm interested in continueing to learn Mandarin which I learnt in Shanghai while I was living and working there for two and a half years. I came back to Australia in September last year. I am able to have basic conversations in Chinese and would like to improve this and begin to learn to write. Depending on cost I would like to spend 1 or two hours a week in lessons and more with self study. I would like structured lessons with a view to taking a qualification in Chinese in the future. I am a 41 year old Australian. My motivation is I recently travelled across Russia for 4 weeks and had a great time; also the company I work for has some interests in Russia which they are developing and there is a chance I could transfer there part time in a couple of years. I am not sure how I will go, as currently i can really only speak english, but I would like to try learning Russian. I am looking for one to one tuition and as I would rather not be in an environment where there are only younger students. My occupation is 2 weeks on/2 weeks off and also one 6 weeks holiday a year, so I have plenty if free time. I would like a program that both involves me studying here at home as well as periods of more intensive study in Russia. I am prepared to make as many of these trips as necessary. (I am not expecting it to be easy!)
