I am an advanced student of Modern Standard Arabic (Classical Arabic). I am a journalist who often works in the Middle East so understanding Arabic is important. I wish to continue studying Arabic so I don't forget it while I am in Thailand. I hope to dedicate several hours a week to Arabic lessons and to practice conversation and learn new vocabulary with a focus on politics and current events. I must have an educated teacher who speaks perfect classical Arabic with perfect grammar and no mistakes. There is no need for he or she to speak or understand any English. I would like to learn Middle-Easter n Arabic for a multitude of reasons. For starters, I am Muslim and I hope to be able to read the Qur'an in it's origional language someday. Also, I am highly interested in culture, and next year I am visiting Lebanon and Dubai, by which time I want to know a portion of conversationa l Arabic. Also, I am going into the field of international public relations, and much of my work will be in the Middle Eastern region. Ii'm fluent in both English and Spanish, so I am somewhat adjusted to new grammar and foreign characters. I am hoping to have classes two or three days a week, each session about an hour and a half, but I'm flexible with scheduling. Though I am a beginner, I pick up quickly, and I have many Arabic friends with whom I would be able to practice.
