Learning Japanese for when I live there and for a proficiency exam at UCF. I would say I am an experienced beginner as I have relearned the basics many times, but never gotten much farther. I need to improve everything before I got and I would like to dedicate an hour or two a week at minimum. I would just like someone to teach in a way that I actually learn it. In a more natural way not a wrote memorization.

Hello there,
I'v e started learning Japanese 2 years ago as a hobby because I like listening to J-pop music and watching J-pop movies/dramas . Thanks to those dramas I've watched and J-pop songs I've listened to, I've been learning Japanese passively from there. I've been studying the basics of Hiragana, Katakana, but I would like to continue more to the advance level. I'm still struggling in reading and writing Katakana and I only know a few Kanji characters.
Although I've learned Japanese for a couple of years, I didn't learn it intensively. I would like to be serious with it and this is the part where I need help the most since I'm not discipline with myself when it comes to self-study. If I stumbled upon problems, I would most likely give up and look for the answers right away instead of trying to solve it first. Even though I learned how to read/write Hiragana and Katakana by myself, I need help learning grammar and all the conversationa l stuff. I feel now that I can read the characters, I should step my game up and learn how to use those in conversations with correct grammar.
I know I started this as a hobby, but I want to be fluent in it. Ever since I became a fan of J-pop, my interest in Japanese language and culture grow everyday. My goal is to travel to/work in Japan and to be able to fluently read or talk in their language. And of course, as a J-pop fan, I aim to be able to read/listen/w atch Japanese shows/songs/d ramas/movies without relying on the subtitles again.
I practice reading and writing Hiragana/Kata kana for a minimum of 2 hours everyday. I figured that if I didn't continue practicing, my effort of memorizing all of them would come to waste. Therefore, I practice everyday for 2 hours and usually I spend more. It all depends on my work load because I study in the office. After work-hour or during the weekend, I spend it by watching J-dramas/movi es. This is how I improve my listening and reading skill, because there are Japanese captions on some variety shows, and I take time to read anything that I can read. Just to match it with whatever they do/say. I listen to J-pop songs everyday and I sing along to the words as well. Again, this is my way of improving my listening and speaking skill. I pick up new vocabularies/ adjectives/nou ns from doing all these too, so it's pretty helpul.
Be cause I have work, I can only do probably 2 sessions per week, (1hr/session) . But with above stated, even 2 sessions per week will be very helpful for me. I need to learn grammar, Kanji characters and of course, strengthen my Hiragana/Kata kana reading skill.
Tha nk you for reading. I hope I can work along with you.
Mic helle Sajangbati
