I plan on getting an ESL degree and also attempting to goto Slovenia to teach english. I know that Slovene is similar to many other languages in eastern europe, so if I learn Slovene I should be able to get around in other countries, minus a few grammatical and pronunciation diferences. I am a beginner at the language, but I know a few words and phrases from software I've purchased as well as from friends of mine that are Slovenian. I feel like I need improvement in all areas, I would like to apply for the Slovenian as a second language certificate and maybe get my citizenship. I can dedicate up to 2-3 years, I dont know how much material there is for Slovene, but I am anxious to learn. I am looking for a college-like course where i can learn the basics of the language and everyday speech.

I am third generation of my family in the United States. My great-grandpa rents passed away and they were the only ones who were fluent in Slovenian. I have very little experience with Croatian so I would be at a beginner level. I want to work on my grammar and conversation. I am willing to spend a few days a week on this because I want to learn as much as possible. I plan to visit the birthplace of my great-grandpa rents some day. Thank you.

I have received a scholarship to the U. of Ljubljana and will be starting post-graduate work there in the fall of 2011. I am new to Slovenian, but will eventually have to learn at a Master's level. I am interested in private tutoring; probably about 2-3 hours a day. I am looking for an instructor who is patient, energetic and flexible.
