I am a beginner, looking to learn Russian with interest in travelling to Russia for research to do with a book that I a writing. I need improvement in all areas of the language. I am hoping to dedicate at least a few hours each week to learning the language. I am looking for a teacher that would be willing to help me, and possibly my girlfriend as well (who is of Russian heritage, and also interested in learning the language). We would like to meet in person with a teacher at least once a week, and have certain materials that we can read or practice with each other for the rest of the week.

I am a beginner
I am planning to go to school in Kiev in September
I need help for basic conversation
I need to be able to have a conversation by September so I can dedicate as much time as you think I need
I would like to be able to read basic Russian and Ukrainian. I was told that most people speak Russian in Kiev but I am assuming that I will come across signs that are Ukrainian. I need help, cd's are good but it would be better to talk to a person instead of a cd. :)
