In Japanese:
I am a beginner in Japanese. I am learning from personal interest in Japanese language and culture with the hope to work and live in Japan at some point in the future.
I am comfortable with kana and have previously had several months lessons in basic conversation (this having been two years ago I am currently revising the basics). As for kanji, I have just started teaching myself the basic kanji from the jooyoo kanji list. Kanji and general conversation are the main areas I would like to work on. In other words I am looking for all-round speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. At the moment studying Japanese has become my primary focus of study so I am dedeicated to studying daily and willing to have lessons once or twice a week at the very least.
I am looking for a teacher who can give me lots of practice in speaking and listening to natural Japanese and help me with the task of tackling the vast number of kanji, all in a relaxed atmosphere.
In Mandarin Chinese:
I am a total beginner in Mandarin, having never studied any before. I am taking an introductory course soon in basic conversation and looking to pursue lessons after than. My interest in Mandarin comes from my studies and training in traditional chinese martial and health arts; I primarily want to learn Mandarin to train and study in the Chinese speaking areas that are the origin of my arts.
For the above reason, conversation is the highest priority for my Mandarin study though I do hope to study reading and writing in future (after achieving some level of competence in speaking and listening).
I am looking for a relaxed atmosphere in which to become as comfortable with the language as possible.
