I am an Australian university student. I am coming to stay in Mumbai OR Pune from about November 2008 until February 2009, and I would like to take classes in Marathi language. I think the best thing for me would be a school or college but I would also consider one-to-one classes. I have already started to learn Marathi grammar and vocabulary and when I come to Maharashtra at the end of 2008 I hope to be at about lower-interme diate or intermediate level in Marathi. I am a total beginner with Vietnamese - although I have travelled to Viet Nam twice.
I am learning for a number of reasons; wish to expand language skills, future career opportunities and most importantly, improved communication with partners parents and family.
As I haven't leant a language since my high school days I am not sure what is the best re: hours per week. But i could dedicate up to 10 hours per week - the majority being home study with say 2 hours face to face. Of course I have no idea what is best and how it is structured.
I am looking to start learning immediately.
